Established for over a decade, EPM has emerged as one of the premier development and project management firms in Sydney. Their success comes from their thorough and meticulous processes which are applied throughout the development process. They have maintained a position on of unparalleled success mainly due to the firm's unique approach in overseeing each and every phase of a development.
As part of the business continuity plan developed by EPM, IT was noted as a critical component. EPM recognised that all business systems were hosted with a single provider, with limited offsite backup, exposing the business to various single points of failure. They sought to mitigate this risk by leveraging a separate provider at another location to replicate all of their systems and data, to protect them from a failure of their primary systems or site.
CNS reviewed and documented EPM’s existing environment and designed an end-to-end soluti on for the IT component of their business continuity plan. Their mixed Windows and Linux environment was replicated to CNS’s Cloud.
Connectivity to their head office and remote staff was established via a Sophos NextGen virtual firewall. A recovery and failover plan was created to map out system dependencies, testing requirements and recovery responsibilities. Once approved an after-hours DR failover exercise was conducted. Key testing tasks were carried out on EPM’s critical systems, and then all services were failed back to the production environment. The planned recovery time objective (RTO) was confirmed and the recovery plan was adjusted based on the lessons learned during the failover and failback exercise. CNS archived the required RTO and successful failover plan within budget by utilising pre-configured standby core components.
